Can I Change My Artist Name?

Brief Explanation: Yes, you can modify your artist name on a release by visiting your album page on Jumpstr and by contact support.

Detailed Explanation: Renaming your artist persona is a lengthy and often challenging transition that occasionally raises more complications than it solves, and not all platforms facilitate rebranding. Naturally, we all appreciate the need for artistic expression and the desire to represent yourself and your artistic endeavor to the fullest. However, we also want to make sure you have all the facts necessary to make the most thought-out decision possible before altering your existing projects. Changes that are hard to reverse and can lead to a slew of problems. It is important to note that Apple Music is not currently accepting rebranding requests. Please refer to the significant note at the end of this article for detailed information.

Crucial Points to Remember:

  • Only live release can request for artist name edits or rebranding. Streaming programs don't allow releases already submitted to be submitted again with distinct metadata (Artist Name and Track Titles). Hence, to resubmit any previously listed release, it must be resubmitted with the original Artist Name and Track Titles.
  • If you've tried to revise or rebrand your Artist Name by deleting your work, remember that the solitary way to do so is to re-upload your work using the original metadata. Once This is completed on streaming services, then can you request an edit.
  • When you request an artist name change, note that most streaming services will simply create a new artist page. Therefore, your monthly listeners and followers will probably not be transferred to your new artist page.
  • Jumpstr cannot guarantee, but your play counts and playlist placements should persist if you are only editing the metadata of an existing release.
  • Renaming your artist identity is an automated request submission process, but the actual data management and metadata updates are not automated. Depending on the volume of current rebrand requests, it may take several months for all stores to reflect your new artist name.
  • Releases might be mis-mapped, and Jumpstr cannot control where your releases are placed in streaming services.
  • After the artist name change, requests for additional edits cannot be submitted until the name change request is completed.
  • If you decide to modify your artist name, the only way to undo it is to make another edit request. But be aware, there may be irreversible consequences from the original request.
  • When rebranding, ensure your complete discography reflects the new artist name, or some streaming services may hide releases with conflicting metadata.

What's Different?

Since June 8th, 2023, Apple Music stopped accepting name change requests for previously released content. Therefore, we can't submit an artist name change request to Apple Music. All requests submitted before June 8th, 2023 will be processed by Apple Music in the coming months.

Why?

Unfortunately, Apple Music does not support name changes for previously released content.

What Options Do You Have?

If you submitted a name change request before June 8th, 2023, Apple Music will honor that request in due course. Otherwise, you can still rebrand on other Digital Service Providers (DSPs). However, previously released content will remain under the original name on Apple Music.

Please Note:

  • Deleting and re-uploading your release to Apple Music will result in a loss of existing data and it may not result in a name change.
  • We currently don't have additional information to share about this change."
